Inter Miami co-owner Jorge Mas made it clear after the club’s MLS Cup 2025 triumph that the primary objective for the coming campaign is to finally secure the CONCACAF Champions Cup, a trophy that has eluded the club since Lionel Messi’s arrival in July 2023 and remains the one prize missing from their cabinet.

What Jorge Mas said

In a conversation with Ole, he spoke about the club’s future and ambitions, including their plans to compete in the CONMEBOL Copa Libertadores. In the meantime, however, he said that their main objective is to add the Champions Cup to their growing list of trophies.

“We’re going to have a squad that can compete and reach the highest level, even more so than what we saw last year. It’s going to be an extraordinary squad. Our goal is to win the CONCACAF Champions League; I’ve told the club that. The objective is to win the CONCACAF Champions League in seven matches this year,” he said.

“That’s why we’re building this squad, and that’s why we’ve improved a lot in key positions. We can compete with all the clubs, Tigres, America, they are very good and very difficult clubs. With respect to those clubs, but we have what it takes.”

Since Messi joined, Inter Miami have enjoyed historic domestic success, winning the 2023 Leagues Cup, the 2024 MLS Supporters’ Shield (finishing top of the regular season) and the 2025 MLS Cup. The former Barcelona man has been central to those achievements, tallying 74 goal contributions (43 goals, 31 assists) in 49 appearances in 2025 alone.

However, their deepest run in the CONCACAF Champions Cup came in 2025 when they reached the semi-finals before losing to the Vancouver Whitecaps. With the ambitious signings they have made, Mas is serious about gunning for continental glory.
