LALIGA giants make big decision on Kelechi Iheanacho's future
Despite Kelechi Iheanacho’s determination to reignite his career at Sevilla after a failed loan spell at Middlesbrough, the Spanish club are resigned to selling him, according to reports.
The 28-year-old was shipped off on loan to Middlesbrough earlier this year after failing to establish himself at Sevilla. The move to the Championship did not have the intended effect, as the Nigerian only scored once in 15 league games.
Iheanacho’s determination
Boro opted against triggering the buy option in his contract, and the Nigerian has returned to Sevilla. Upon his return, Iheanacho expressed his happiness to return to the club.
Speaking to Mundo Deportivo, Iheanacho shared his excitement about being back. “I’m really excited to be here. It’s a wonderful place. It was good to go out and to feel football in a different environment,” the one-time FA Cup winner said.
He further expressed his affection for the club, stating, “Seville is a great club. I loved my experience there. It’s a great team and I’ll be happy to get back there.”
Sevilla ready to part ways
The Super Eagles forwards could not begin preseason training with Nervion, as he was reportedly suffering from indigestion. His physical condition is now improving, evident in a recent Instagram okay he made of himself running in the gym.
Absence due to fitness or health problems has come to define Iheanacho's time at Sevilla, and the club are prepared to part ways with him this summer, according to El Pespunte.
According to the report, he is not in the plans of new coach Matias Almeyda, and the club will look to sell him at their earliest convenience.
