Kaizer Chiefs fans have been left annoyed by the revelation that the club does not intend to go big in the January transfer window despite the team needing some reinforcements.

Chiefs had a topsy-turvy first half of the season to end 2025 in fourth place and although it is just four points off leaders Orlando Pirates, who have a game in hand, there is a feeling that they could have even been top.

This is because they dropped many points from draws against several mid and bottom table teams with the feeling among fans being that extra creativity in midfield and a clinical striker is needed this month.

Motaung on Why Chiefs Won’t Sign in January

However, Chiefs’ boss Bobby Motaung has made it clear that the Glamour Boys will not be busy in this month’s transfer window.

“We are satisfied with the squad we have because we have had players injured, but they are coming back,” Motaung told Isolezwe as quoted by Afrik-Foot. “We signed many players at the beginning of the season and some of them are yet to play,” added Motaung, whose team signed 11 players in the off-season.

“It’s not easy to join Chiefs, which is why some players take time to settle in. They have to get used to the team so that everything goes smoothly. We don’t want to change the squad,” he stated.

Sundowns and Pirates Have Made Big Signings

That assertion has left Chiefs fans disappointed and they now fear that the second half of the season could be worse given Pirates and second-placed Mamelodi Sundowns have signed top players and continue to do so.

Pirates brought in New Zealand midfielder Andre de Jong from Stellenbosch FC while releasing winger Monnapule Saleng to Sundowns, who have also signed defender Khulumani Ndamane from TS Galaxy.

Sundowns also unveiled Colombian striker Brayan Leon on Monday, whose deal is worth R65 million (Ksh451 million), displaying their big ambition to reclaim their place at the top of the table.

Chiefs have been linked to TS Galaxy winger Puso Dithejane but it is not certain if he is one for this month or the future.
