Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana star Relebohile Mofokeng has commented on the growing speculation surrounding a potential transfer, following the recent departures of fellow academy graduates Mbekezeli Mbokazi and Mohau Nkota.

The 21-year-old winger, widely regarded as one of South Africa’s most promising talents, has been consistently linked with a move abroad.

He came close to joining Minnesota United in August after the American club submitted a formal offer to the Buccaneers. Having won the Premiership Young Player of the Season award for two consecutive years, questions are mounting about Mofokeng's next career step after two standout seasons in the PSL.

His former teammates, Nkota and Mbokazi, spent only a short time in the Sea Robbers' first team before securing moves to Europe.

Speaking to the media on Saturday while on international duty with Bafana Bafana, Mofokeng confirmed he is open to an overseas transfer.

"If I can maybe go somewhere, I think it will be a very good move," he stated. "Playing in this tournament is very important in that case also. When I get a chance, I just have to grab it."

Meanwhile, the talented South African winger and attacking midfielder developed through the SAFA-Transnet School of Excellence and made his professional senior debut for the "Buccaneers" in May 2023.

Mofokeng quickly became a vital part of the squad, contributing to multiple title wins, including three consecutive MTN 8 trophies and the 2025 Carling Knockout Cup.

A standout career moment occurred when he scored the dramatic winning goal in the 2024 Nedbank Cup final, securing a major trophy for his team.

His consistent domestic performances earned him awards and a call-up to the South African national team. He made his senior international debut in June 2024 and recently represented Bafana Bafana during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations knockout rounds in early 2026.

Having already surpassed 100 club appearances by age 21, he is widely regarded as one of the most exciting young talents in South African football.

He has previously had an assessment with English Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers. It has also been revealed that Algerian club MC Alger holds a keen interest in the Vaal-born attacker.
