Juventus eye Amrabat, EPL stars to replace 'absent' Douglas Luiz

Juventus are already weighing up potential midfield replacements after Douglas Luiz failed to report for the first day of pre-season training, raising questions over his future at the club.

The Brazilian, who joined the Bianconeri from Aston Villa last summer in a €50 million move, did not report to Juventus’s training camp on Thursday, an absence deemed unauthorised by the club.

As a result, Luiz is expected to be fined and possibly sold, with Juve hoping to recoup around €40 million from any transfer.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Sporting CP's Morten Hjulmand tops the list of potential replacements.

The Danish midfielder, formerly of Lecce, has impressed in Portugal and could command a similar transfer fee to Luiz, around €40 million.

However, Juventus would need to raise funds through outgoing sales first, with Dusan Vlahovic and Nico Gonzalez also named as potential departures.

Juventus are also considering Tottenham Hotspur's Yves Bissouma. The Europa League-winning Mali international brings experience and a combative edge.

However, Bissouma would occupy Juve’s final non-EU squad slot, a spot the club may prefer to reserve for Nahuel Molina of Atletico Madrid.

Sofyan Amrabat, the former Fiorentina and Manchester United man, is available, bringing Serie A experience and defensive grit. Also, Fulham's Sander Berge is on the lookout as well.

The 27-year-old Luiz had a mixed debut season in Turin, struggling to justify his price tag and falling short of expectations.

His no-show at pre-season may have sealed his fate, with Juventus now open to offers as they aim to reshape their midfield under manager Thiago Motta.
