'It's Ferguson's fault' — Club legend explains reason for Man United's current problems
Manchester United legend Patrice Evra recently analysed the club's current struggles and believes Sir Alex Ferguson, along with himself and other cast members from the great Red Devils team, were to blame for the fall-off.
Manchester United's struggles
While last season saw the Red Devils make their worst finish in Premier League history, 8th, it did not come as any real shock, evident in Erik ten Hag keeping his job, as it was the continuation of the disastrous spell the post-Fergie era has been.
Since Sir Alex Ferguson called time on his coaching career, leading Manchester United to their 21st league title, no manager has managed to add to that tally in 11 years since.
What Evra said
Speaking to BBC Sports, Evra suggested that Sir Alex retired too early and should have stayed on to help instil the Manchester United values in the next generation of players.
"It's always tough to talk about United right now because back in the day we used to play for the fan, for the badge, for the history,” the retired France international said.
“We lose a little bit of those values. I blame myself; I blame Sir Alex Ferguson. When we left, we left too early and it's difficult for the players because they don't have any example."
