The tragic news emerged just a day after his Nigerian international teammate, Wilfred Ndidi, also lost his father.

Despite the profound personal loss, Chukwueze demonstrated immense fortitude by featuring in Fulham's starting lineup against Manchester United last week and he delivered a lively performance.

Silva hails Chukwueze 

Ahead of Fulham's upcoming Premier League match against Everton, Silva spoke about the Nigerian international's state of mind and praised his decision to remain with the team during such a difficult time.

"He took a decision to play, he feels very well here," Silva stated. "It's been a tough moment for him and his family. It's nice to see him smiling every day. Nice to see him with us."

Chukwueze is in contention to start against Everton and is expected to remain a key part of the squad as Fulham push for a strong finish to the season.

Due to the demanding fixture schedule, he will likely wait until the summer to return to Nigeria for his mother's burial.

Currently sitting 9th in the Premier League table, Fulham are seven points adrift of the Champions League places.
