‘Everything is so clear’ - Fulham manager clears the air on Chukwueze's future after Oscar Bobb signing
Chukwueze joined the Cottagers on a deadline-day loan from AC Milan last summer and has been an important player.
After a gradual start, the Super Eagles star found his form in London, contributing three goals and four assists in ten appearances for Silva's team.
The January transfer window brought changes to Fulham's attack. Adama Traore departed for West Ham United, and the club invested a reported €31.2 million to bring in Norwegian winger Oscar Bobb.
Silva speaks on Chukwueze's future
Speaking ahead of Fulham's match against Manchester United, Silva addressed the high-profile signing of Bobb and its implications for the squad.
"I'm very pleased, because I think it's a very, very good move from us," the Portuguese coach stated, as reported by the BBC.
"Since Adama left, or was coming close to leaving, I had some players in mind as targets, and Oscar was one of them for sure."
"He's a clear replacement for the player that left the club. It's a great move from us. Very talented player, quality, individual quality as well," he continued.
"I have to congratulate the club and the board for the move and to be able to sign a player and to react in a way to replace a 30-year-old with a 22-year-old, for the present and the future too."
Silva was quick to reaffirm his confidence in the Nigerian international. "Everything is so clear; we have been completely aligned since the end of November," Silva said regarding Chukwueze's situation.
"There's time, we are very pleased with him. He's been able to show quality. He's a great lad, a nice boy. He's adapting to what we need. We are going to have time to do it."
Despite the recent personal tragedy of losing his mother, Chukwueze demonstrated his commitment by playing 79 minutes in Fulham's subsequent game against Manchester United.
