Fenerbahce boss Jose Mourinho has provided a crucial update on his health, calming his fans and well-wishers who were worried after news broke that the Portuguese was set to undergo a surgical procedure.
What happened
Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu reported via his X social media platform that the former Real Madrid and Chelsea boss was dealing with health problems that required surgery, sparking concerns from the footballing world.
Mourinho has now come out to allay the fears, stating that while the reports he had surgery scheduled were true, the magnitude was greatly exaggerated, as it was a minor procedure. He expects to return to the sidelines when the Turkish Super Lig returns next year.
What Mourinho said
The Yellow Canaries gaffer took to social media to pinkish a video in which he wished fans a happy holiday. He then captioned the clip with the following:
“Wishing everyone a happy holiday season. May this time be full of love and happiness for you and your families.
“For those of you who have shown concern, I can confirm reports of my surgery have been greatly exaggerated, it’s just a quick and minor procedure.
“I will resume training on the first day back from the holidays, as always. I’ve never missed a session in 25 years, and I don’t intend to start now.”
