‘It was down to emotions’ - Jürgen Klopp explains what happened between Nunez and Guardiola
At the Etihad Stadium, the two teams had just concluded a thrilling 1-1 draw when tensions rose.
Nunez and Guardiola got into a fight on the touchline, requiring Jurgen Klopp to pull the Uruguayan away.
During the post-match interview, Pep Guardiola was asked about the incident, but he replied with only one word and made a quick exit from the interview.
Klopp’s response
After the game, Nunez and Guardiola had a handshake before exchanging words that raised the heated moment.
However, when asked what transpired following the incident, Guardiola was in no mood to discuss it. The Spaniard simply said, "Nothing."
Before any questions could be addressed, Guardiola left the news conference, according to the Sun.
Conversely, Klopp provided a greater perspective when he discussed his responsibility to maintain harmony.
The German explained the incident as "emotions," despite claiming to not have "understood a word" of what was said.
He said, as reported by the Sun, "That’s the story of the world, huh? A person who doesn’t understand a word is trying to calm down two people.
“It’s fine; it’s just emotions, nothing else. Because I love them both, I was probably the perfect person to do that. but nothing spectacular. Emotions.”
