Fabio Capello has expressed his disapproval of Real Madrid’s handling of Carlo Ancelotti’s departure from the club.
Ancelotti is set to leave Real Madrid at the end of the season to become the head coach of the Brazil national team, with Xabi Alonso expected to take over at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Capello, who previously managed Real Madrid, believes the decision to part ways with Ancelotti is unjust. “Yes, I think his situation is unfair,” Capello said.
“But I know Real Madrid. At this club, it’s not enough to participate; you have to win.”
Reflecting on his own experience, Capello noted that even winning a title wasn’t enough to secure his position at the club.
Despite his criticism, the former England boss was full of praise for Ancelotti’s achievements.
“The numbers speak for themselves, people forget that,” he said. “He had a strong team, and with that strong team, he won.
"He’s intelligent, he knows how to manage the locker room, he has charisma… that’s important. And Ancelotti has it.”
