The decision was primarily driven by Tottenham’s dismal 17th-place finish and 22 Premier League defeats, prompting the club to seek a new manager.

Tuchel is familiar with the sting of dismissal, having been let go from his previous roles at Chelsea and Bayern Munich.

Reflecting on Tottenham’s move, the England boss said, “That’s the job, basically.

“I feel for every manager, and I have huge sympathy for every manager, especially in these moments. I was in the same spot, and it feels horrible,” Tuchel said.

“It just shows it is not only about titles. If your connections with the club, the board are strong, you can survive seasons without titles. If there is slight disbelief or the trust is not there anymore, then it is sometimes not even enough to win a trophy after so many years.

"I have the biggest respect for him. He has a huge character. He said he will deliver the trophy in the second year. He did. But this is part of the job.”
