It's Over! Ruthless Spurs sack Ange Postecoglou despite Europa League triumph

Tottenham Hotspur have decided to sack manager Ange Postecoglou weeks after he led them to Europa League glory.

Tottenham finished the just-concluded Premier League season in 17th place, suffering a record number of defeats and accumulating their lowest-ever points tally.

It was a huge regression from Ange Postecoglou's first season, when he led them to fifth.

There was always the impression that winning the Europa League would not be enough to save his job, and that has proven to be the case as the 59-year-old has now been sacked by Spurs after two seasons.

Brentford's Thomas Frank has emerged as the favourite to replace Postecoglou, and there have also been links to Fulham boss Marco Silva.

Postecoglou famously claimed he "always wins things in his second season" - but keeping that promise was not enough to keep him in the job.

His departure means Spurs are searching for their fifth permanent manager in six years since Mauricio Pochettino left the club back in 2019.
