‘It doesn’t bother me’ - Carrick responds to Roy Keane criticism
Manchester United caretaker manager Michael Carrick has responded to criticism from former teammate and club legend Roy Keane.
Keane had questioned Carrick’s suitability for the role and reportedly made comments extending beyond football matters.
What Carrick said
However, speaking to BBC Sport, Carrick made it clear that he is not losing sleep over the criticism.
He said, “It doesn’t bother me one bit. Genuinely, it doesn’t. I’m not going to really fall out with anyone over that.”
The former United midfielder, who shared a dressing room with Keane during his playing days at the club, emphasised the importance of mutual respect despite differences of opinion.
He added, “I think it’s a respect thing as much as anything and I’ll give and take that.
“I think for younger players in general it’s something we need to help them with and look after them.
“It’s a different world now than when, say, I was coming through, but we’ll do that and we look after them.”
