Marcus Rashford: Barcelona ready to make move permanent despite Carrick request
Barcelona have reportedly decided not to negotiate a lower fee with Manchester United for Marcus Rashford, and are instead prepared to pay the full €30 million to make his move permanent.
After a difficult final period at Old Trafford, the 28-year-old secured a season-long loan to the Catalan giants last summer.
He has flourished under Hansi Flick at the Camp Nou, recording 10 goals and 13 assists so far.
This resurgence has not only revitalized his club career but has also firmly placed him back in the England squad ahead of this summer's World Cup.
Barcelona to make permanent move for Marcus Rashford
While initial reports suggested Barcelona might seek a discount on the previously agreed July price, Manchester United have remained firm, refusing to drop the valuation, according to Sport.
Barcelona’s hierarchy now views the €30m fee as "reasonable and affordable" when compared to the soaring market rates for similar attacking profiles.
The deal is expected to proceed without complication, as United currently have no interest in any "surplus" Barcelona players who could have served as make-weights in a swap.
Rashford has already settled into Spanish life and is reportedly ready to sign a three-year contract.
To facilitate the move and fit within Barcelona’s wage structure, he has agreed to a salary lower than what he would have earned had he returned to Manchester.
Barcelona are top of LaLiga, and still alive in every competition, with Rashford playing a key role. A permannt move will help United save money, and provide the Blaugrana with more flexibility in attack as Robert Lewandowski departs the club.
