Liverpool's preparation for this weekend’s monumental Premier League clash against Manchester United has been hampered by yet another injury scare, with Netherlands manager Ronald Koeman confirming midfielder Ryan Gravenberch suffered a hamstring issue on international duty.

The hugely important game comes at a crucial time for Liverpool, who have lost their last three matches and slipped behind Arsenal in the title race.

However, the international break has worsened the Reds injury crisis.

Key players Ibrahima Konaté and Wataru Endo have also picked up knocks, joining long-term absentees Alisson Becker (ruled out until the end of the month with a hamstring problem) and Giovanni Leoni in the treatment room.

Gravenberch’s fitness is now seriously in doubt for Sunday’s showdown at Anfield after he was withdrawn at half-time during the Netherlands’ 4-0 World Cup qualifying win over Finland.

Koeman quickly revealed details on the 23-year-old’s condition, easing initial fears while confirming the issue.

“Ryan indicated he was experiencing some minor hamstring discomfort. We obviously didn’t take any risks with that.”

The midfielder will now return to Merseyside to be assessed to determine the precise severity of the injury.
