‘I’m not happy’ - Super Eagles star expresses disappointment following loss to city rivals
Sevilla suffered a disappointing 2-0 defeat to city rivals Real Betis in a heated La Liga derby on Sunday.
Adams started for Sevilla at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán, but the home side was unable to capitalise on their advantage.
The Super Eagles striker played the full 90 minutes, managing two shots on goal. He missed a significant opportunity in the 78th minute when, after successfully rounding the Betis goalkeeper, his goal-bound shot was blocked.
Akor Adams not happy with defeat
Following the match, Adams did not hide his frustration with the outcome and emphasised the need for the team to improve.
"I’m not happy. It’s not just the defeat, but the way it happened. It’s a tough feeling," Adams stated. "There are no excuses. We have to work hard. I think we played a good first half."
Sevilla and Adams will look to bounce back in their upcoming Copa del Rey fixture against Extremadura.
The result leaves Sevilla in 13th place in the La Liga standings with just 16 points from 14 matches, marking their eighth loss of the season.
The 23-year-old has experienced a difficult spell; however, he has managed to score two goals and provide one assist this season.
