Iheanacho and Adams remind Sevilla of their quality in first game back from injury
Nigerian duo Akor Adams and Kelechi Iheanacho reminded Sevilla of their quality during the pre-season clash against Schalke, with three of Los Nervionenses' goals in the 4-2 victory coming from the West Africans.
Akor and Iheanacho's struggles
Iheanacho joined the Andalusian side last summer as a free agent but struggled to break into the side. He only managed five league starts and was shipped off to Middlesbrough on loan in the winter window.
His loan to Middlesbrough was unsuccessful, as he also barely played in the Championship, managing only nine starts. He is back in Seville for preseason, and after struggling with fitness, he is available for Matias Almeyda’s selection.
Akor, on the other hand, joined the record Europa League winners in the winter transfer window from Montpellier and hurt his hamstring almost immediately. He returned to action in March and suffered another muscle injury.
Akor and Iheanacho shine in preseason
Both strikers are back in the fold after rehabilitation and have immediately gone about proving their quality. Akor started against Schalke and scored a brace in the first half.
He was substituted in the second half for Iheanacho, who got himself on the scoresheet in the second half as Almeyda's side ran out 4-2 winners.
Iheanacho's goal against the German side might not be enough to keep him at Sevilla, as the club are already resigned to losing him. As Pulse Sports reported, he is not in Almeyda's plans and has been transfer-listed by the club.
