Ighalo made the comments during his halftime analysis on SuperSport, where he assessed Osimhen’s performance and overall contribution to Nigeria’s attacking play.

Speaking candidly, the former Manchester United and Watford striker emphasised the importance of Osimhen staying close to goal rather than drifting too deep.

“I want him to score goals and be up there as a striker. I want him to win the Golden Boot,” Ighalo said on SuperSport.

Osimhen has been in strong form for the Super Eagles at AFCON, scoring twice in Nigeria’s 4–0 win over Mozambique, a result that booked the team’s place in the quarter-finals.

His growing goal tally has also pushed him closer to Rashidi Yekini’s all-time Super Eagles scoring record.
