France star Kylian Mbappe is the subject of a new interview released by L’Équipe on Wednesday, September 10.
The Real Madrid forward did not shy away from discussing his love life, a subject he has never publicly elaborated on before.
The interview touches on the choices behind his decision not to marry at such a young age and the personal reasoning that still defines him.
Is Kylian Mbappe married? No, the French star confirmed himself the reason why he is not yet married.
What’s the gossip?
The interviewer observed that “many footballers get married very early,” before Mbappé was asked, “Is it something that is lacking in your balance or not at all?”
The Les Blues captain told L'Equipe: “No, because I chose it.
“Everyone builds their life differently. I did it thinking that football was my whole life and I wanted to make the most of my career. Maybe I'm wrong... (He smiles) Maybe I'm right. Only the future will tell me or God in due time. When you choose things, the result is easy to accept.”
He added a cautionary note about relationships formed in the glare of fame.
“It’s a fine line between paranoia and vigilance. Some people want to harm you, but that's not everyone.
"You shouldn't think too much and just jump in. That’s true for everyone." he submitted.
Mbappe’s powerful mother Fayza Lazari also discussed her son’s love life with the publication.
She said: “I asked him recently if he had a girlfriend. He replied: ‘Do you see a girlfriend in this mess?’ It’s complicated being Kylian Mbappé’s girlfriend. With all that that entails. He’s already had some and it's not easy for both of them.”
Mbappé’s remarks came amid broader reflections in the same interview on the pressures of elite football.
The 26-year-old superstar said mental health remains a taboo subject in elite sport.
“I’m very hard on myself, more than most people are,” he admitted, emphasising his internal struggles and discipline.
He also revealed that his love for the game is what saves him.
“If I didn’t have this passion, the world of football would have disgusted me a long time ago.”
What next for Mbappe?
The French forward has enjoyed an electric start to the season so far, netting three goals in his three opening games for Real Madrid this season.
Los Blancos will be relying on their prolific forward to help unseat the current LaLiga champions Barcelona, as well as their charge for a 16th Champions League title
Mbappe returns to action for Madrid this weekend in LaLiga, as they travel to the Reale Arena to play Real Sociedad in matchday 4.
