‘I just pray that we get the opportunity to turn it around’ – Man United director begs for more time
Pressure has been mounting on Amorim, as well as on Wilcox and CEO Omar Berrada, following a recent defeat to Manchester City.
The Red Devils suffered a disappointing 3-0 defeat to their noisy neighbours, Manchester City, last Sunday, adding to the team's poor start to the season.
Ratcliffe visited the Carrington training ground on Thursday for discussions, where the team's current form was a key topic.
Wilcox asks for more time
Amorim, who is under pressure, has called for patience, with Wilcox also backing the manager's comment during a rare public Q&A session shared on YouTube.
"I just pray that we get the opportunity to turn it around, and I really feel that it's not a matter of if we'll win again, but when," Wilcox stated.
Speaking at a gala dinner for the Association of Manchester United Players, Wilcox reflected on his tenure: "It has been a rollercoaster! I came in last April, around 18 months ago and I can't lie, it's been a real challenge."
"I thought the club was in a much better place than it was," he continued. "We had no football identity and lacked alignment between the ownership, the CEO, the football department, and the academy. We've just been working so hard behind the scenes."
"The football club undoubtedly needed to go through a period of transformation. Forget the redundancies; the entire structure of Manchester United needed to change."
"It's really important that we have a leaner workforce that provides accountability and responsibility... now we have a platform to rebuild."
