Man Utd vs Chelsea: Shearer explains what will happen to Amorim if Red Devils lose to the Blues
Former England striker Alan Shearer has warned that Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim could lose his job if his side suffers another defeat when they face Chelsea at Old Trafford on Saturday.
United have endured a shaky start to the Premier League campaign, collecting just four points from their opening four matches.
They currently sit 14th in the table, only a few points clear of the relegation zone.
What Shearer said
Speaking to Betfair, Shearer stressed that Amorim cannot afford another heavy loss following last weekend’s setback.
“I don’t think they can afford to be beaten like that again this weekend. If they were, then you’d have to fear for what’s going to happen going forward for the manager.
"Amorim knows, he believes, and he will either keep or lose his job. It’s a really interesting weekend and one where he can’t take another beating like they did last weekend," he said.
Despite mounting pressure, the Portuguese coach has insisted he will remain committed to his 3-4-3 system, a setup he used successfully at Sporting Lisbon. But results have been slow to follow at Old Trafford, sparking concerns among fans and pundits.
With the Premier League table still taking shape, Saturday’s clash has the potential to either spark a United revival or deepen the crisis.
