Ahead of the Super Bowl, LIX in New Orleans, there has been confirmation of Lionel Messi's attendance, months after revealing his growing interest in American Football.

The Argentine World Cup winner is widely regarded as the greatest footballer of all time, a mantle he has shared with Cristiano Ronaldo over the past decade.

Mahomes, speaking on Messi's potential appearance at the Super Bowl, had nothing but praise for the Barcelona legend.

“He’s the GOAT of his profession and to have someone like that at the game, it will be awesome because I’ll get to showcase who I am and what talent I have,” Mahomes told reporters.

“I got to watch him when he played in Kansas City, I think it was last year or maybe a couple of years ago, and he had a couple of goals in that game [and] you see the greatness that he displays every single day.

“So, [he’s] someone else I can look up to and try to get up on his level someday.”
