His endorsement comes just a day after Ballon d'Or organisers unveiled the 30-man shortlist for this year's award, with Yamal emerging as one of the leading favourites.

Laporta makes his choice clear

The Barcelona president did not hide his admiration when asked about Yamal's chances of lifting the prestigious award.

“I would love for Lamine to win the Ballon d'Or. I would also be delighted if any player from Barça wins it. Lamine is a very mature guy. A genius. He is extraordinary,” Laporta told reporters.

Yamal's nomination follows a season filled with silverware and standout performances for both club and country.

The winger played an important role as Barcelona reclaimed the La Liga title, while his influence extended onto the international stage, where he helped Spain win the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
