He helped me a lot — Palmer reveals how Super Eagles-eligible star supported him through bad form
Nigerian defender Tosin Adarabioyo recently shared how he has supported his teammate Cole Palmer through his goal drought after the England international admitted that the former Fulham man was one of his support systems.
Palmer reveals Adarabioyo’s crucial support
The 23-year-old had a sensational first 18 months at Chelsea, establishing himself as one of the best players in the Premier League.
However, he suffered a significant dip in the second half of the recently concluded season, managing only two goals and two assists in the last 17 matches of the campaign. It was a difficult spell for the former Manchester City man, and he revealed that Adarabioyo served as a crucial support system.
“I've had a difficult time these past whatever months on and off the pitch, but he's always been there for me. He's helped me a lot,” Palmer said.
Adarabioyo explains how he does it
Tosin had known Palmer long before he joined Chelsea, as they both were in the Manchester City system. He explained that he consistently reassures the England international and how the Chelsea team shields Palmer from scrutiny.
"I've known Cole since he was a young boy, so even me seeing him on those big banners makes me very, very proud,” he told reporters.
“I think people do forget that he's still 22, 23 years of age, and he's one of the faces of this tournament. Obviously, his life has changed in the past two years.
“I banter him some time and tell him he's a little superstar. But yeah, he handles it very well. He knows his focus is brilliant on football. He loves playing football, and that's Cole Palmer for you.
"You say he's receiving a lot of scrutiny. I don't think Cole really looks at that, and us as team-mates aren't really looking at that. He performs at a very high level every time he steps on the pitch. So our job is not just to help Cole Palmer but every single player on the pitch perform as well as they can."
