Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella reacted cheekily when asked about Cole Palmer’s bizarre toe injury, which would rule him out of the Champions League clash against Barcelona, with the Spaniard suggesting that his teammate hurt himself while playing video games.
What Cucurella said
Speaking in the pre-match presser for the Champions League clash set to be played at Stamford Bridge, Cucurella joked that he had also experienced the incident that led to Palmer's injury but avoided breaking his toe because he was stronger. He also joked that Palmer got the injury while playing FIFA.
“To be fair, I don't believe it. It is true that these things can sometimes happen,” he said. “I have had this a couple of times, but I'm stronger than them, so I don't feel anything.
“It's a big upset for us because he's getting closer to playing with us, to train with us, and then now he needs to rest. But this is part of life, a part of footballers' lives, we have personal lives, and we have these kinds of problems, so hopefully he can recover fast."

Asked what might have led to Palmer breaking his toe, he said. "I don't know. He's running because I think he lost a FIFA game or something like that, I think!"
Palmer’s injury
As Pulse Sports reported, Palmer will miss three key upcoming matches after fracturing his toe in an accident at home. The England international, who was nearing a return from a groin injury that had sidelined him since September, suffered the injury after stubbing his little toe on his left foot.
The 23-year-old has already missed the Premier League trip to Burnley. He will also miss the Champions League clash against Barcelona and a crucial Premier League home game versus Arsenal.
