“He doesn’t know what he’s doing” — Ex-Real Madrid star slams Arokodare after penalty miss
Tolu Arokodare has come under heavy criticism following his missed penalty in Wolverhampton Wanderers’ 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace.
Former Arsenal and Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor did not hold back in his assessment of the Nigerian forward’s effort from the spot.
Adebayor criticises Arokodare’s penalty
Arokodare had the chance to put Wolves ahead late in the first half but struck a tame, low effort toward the bottom-right corner. Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson read the attempt comfortably and gathered with ease.
Reacting on Premier League Productions, Adebayor questioned the Super Eagles striker’s mindset during the game against Crystal Palace.
“Tolu’s lack of confidence, he doesn’t know what he’s doing. That’s a big lack of confidence. You can’t take a penalty like that in this kind of game,” he said.
Adebayor added that in such a key moment, decisiveness and belief are essential, qualities he felt were missing in Arokodare’s execution.
Costly miss exposes Arokodare to insults
The penalty miss proved decisive. Palace snatched all three points through a late Evann Guessand strike after Wolves were reduced to ten men following Ladislav Krejci’s dismissal.
Still adapting to the Premier League after his summer move, Arokodare now faces growing scrutiny, and even worse, racist taunts from Wolves fans on his Instagram page.
The defeat leaves Wolves in a difficult position, and the Super Eagles striker will be desperate to respond positively in the upcoming clash against Aston Villa.
