Tolu Arokodare missed the opportunity to get his third goal of the season in Wolves defeat to Crystal Palace.

Super Eagles striker Toku Arokodare missed an opportunity to put Wolves in front from the penalty spot in the 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace. His attempt was saved by Dean Henderson, and an Evann Guessand strike late in the game secured the victory for Crystal Palace.

Referee Thomas Kirk pointed to the spot after Adam Wharton fouled Mateus Mane in the box. The 2-year-old Super Eagles striker stepped up to take responsibility for the resulting spotkick. He fired to the right side of the goal and fired directly into the gloves of Henderson, who predicted Arokodare's intentions accurately.

Arokodare can't save Wolves

Arokodare has struggled for prominence since joining Wolves from Genk in the summer for a reported €26 million. He got his 12th start of the season against Crystal Palace and failed to make it count, missing from the spot in the crucial bottom-half-of-the-table clash against the Eagles.

Interestingly, Jorgen Strand-Larsen, whose exit to Palace in the January transfer window created more gametime opportunities for Arokodare, started for Palace, but he failed to register impact against his former side.

The defeat leaves Wolves at 10 points, rooted to the bottom of the Premier League standings, and 17 points away from safety. The Wanderers have only 30 points left to play for this season, and should they muster any sort of late resurgence, Arokodare, now their main goalscorer, has to do significantly better than his current two league goals.
