He can play till 45! — Ex-Premier League star says Cristiano Ronaldo must forget retirement
Former Premier League defender Alan Hutton believes Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo, could keep playing until he’s 45.
Ronaldo, who turned 40 in February 2025, is showing no signs of slowing down. The Al Nassr forward has notched an impressive 33 goals for the Saudi Pro League side this season across all competitions, and is reportedly in line for a two-year contract extension.
Hutton, speaking to Boyle Sports, said
“Cristiano Ronaldo probably feels that he could play to 45, no problem. The way he looks after himself day to day, there’s no reason that he can’t go and play for another few years.
"He’ll feel that he can, no problem. He’ll feel that he can still score goals. So I feel that he would go on for as long as possible. And rightly so. If you feel good, why shouldn’t you?”
Ronaldo recently became the first player in history to reach 934 career goals, adding to his tally with a strike in Al-Nassr’s 4-1 victory over Yokohama FM in the AFC Champions League.
