He belongs in Manchester United - Ruben Amorim hails Nigerian youngster Dorgu after first goal
Manchester United coach Ruben Amorim has hailed Danish-born Nigerian youngster Patrick Dorgu after his outstanding performance in the thrilling 4-1 win over Bournemouth.
The 20-year-old left wing-back was the star of the match, scoring his first goal for the club and assisting fellow Dane Rasmus Hojlund, as the Red Devils secured their second consecutive victory in the Premier League Summer Series
Amorim was full of praise for Dorgu in his post-match interview with Manchester United's MUTV, emphasising the young defender's rapid growth and importance to the team.
“It's impressive. He's 20 years old. He looks more and more like he belongs in Manchester United, and that is hard to do at 20 years old,” said Amorim
“But he's so powerful, he's getting his technique in his game, he's defending so well, he's pressing so well. So I’m really impressed with Patrick,” he added.
On the pitch, Dorgu was pivotal in United’s attacking play, delivering a precise assist to Hojlund who scored with an early header.
Later, Dorgu doubled the lead with a well-taken goal after a quick free-kick from Mason Mount, showing his composure and technique in front of goal.
His dynamic presence on the left flank helped United dominate the game and maintain control against Bournemouth throughout.
Reflecting on his performance, Dorgu expressed satisfaction and a team-first attitude: “It was good to help the team out there and it was good to get the win, we just keep improving and look forward to the season.”
With this emphatic victory, Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United side strengthens their bid for the Premier League Summer Series title and continue to build momentum ahead of the new season.
