Gyulai Istvan Memorial: Kishane Thompson returns to European meet action aiming for second consecutive win
Jamaican 100m champion Kishane Thompson will make a return to European action by aiming for a second consecutive win at the Gyulai Istvan Memorial in Budapest on Tuesday, August 12.
The Olympic silver medallist has been provisionally listed in his trademark event - the 100m, where he stands as favourite for the outright win against a formidable field.
Top of the list capable of stunning him for the win is South African sprint legend Akani Simbine, Africa's fastest man in history Ferdinand Omanyala, compatriots Rohan Watson and Ackeem Blake, Nigerian rising sprint sensation Kanyinsola Ajayi, and veteran American sprinter Ronnie Baker.

Thompson, as the world leader with a massive personal best of 9.75s, ran to claim the Jamaican title in June, will gun for his second consecutive victory at the meet, after storming to the win last year in 9.91s (-0.6).
Since his loss to Simbine at the Xiamen Diamond League on May 3, Thompson has been in tremendous unbeaten form, and his last 100m race at the Prefontaine Classic on July 5, where he blazed to a blistering 9.85s.
With his next clash set to be against fierce rival Noah Lyles in Silesia on August 16, the Jamaican speedster will hope the Gyulai Istvan Memorial race will be the perfect preparation ahead of a probable European dominance before the World Championships in Tokyo next month.
