Kishane Thompson raced to the first Diamond League victory of his career with a dominant 9.85s at the Prefontaine Classic.
Jamaican champion Kishane Thompson is surely a man in form, proving it again with another dominant display to win the men's 100m event ahead of Zharnel Hughes and Trayvon Bromell at the Prefontaine Classic Diamond League in Eugene.
The Olympic silver medallist blazed to his first career Diamond League victory with an impressive 9.85s (0.4), finishing ahead of British Record holder Hughes, who ran a Season's Best (SB) of 9.91s, while Bromell's unbeaten streak this season ended as he finished third in 10.94s.
Thompson's convincing performance in Eugene backs up his exceptional national title-winning time of 9.75s - a world lead this year and the sixth fastest time in history.
By also displacing a world-class field with minimal effort, it is a vital warning to the men's sprint division that he's the man to beat this season, and the favourite for the world title in Tokyo, with defending champion Noah Lyles yet to make his season's debut.
Meanwhile, defending Prefontaine Classic champion Christian Coleman failed to make it a hattrick of titles as he finished seventh in 10.06s, while Brandon Hicklin also went sub-10s to finish fourth in 9.98s.
