GOATs as teammates? MLS giant Inter contact Cristiano Ronaldo to join rival Lionel Messi at the club
Could football fans be about to witness the unprecedented sight of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi as teammates?
Reports from Spain and Saudi Arabia suggest MLS side Inter Miami are hatching an audacious plan to unite the two modern greats and rivals.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi at Inter
According to Spanish outlet Marca, the wealthy Miami franchise has already made contact with Ronaldo's representatives about the possibility of the Portuguese superstar joining Messi at the club.
The Spanish outlet went on to cite claims by Saudi journalist Abdulaziz Al-Tamimi that Inter Miami have asked the 39-year-old about becoming part of their project from 2025 onwards, by which time Ronaldo will be 40 years old.
Such a move would create a genuine sensation in world football - getting the two greatest players of their generation together on the same team for the very first time.
Ronaldo and Messi's iconic rivalry and individual battle for supremacy have defined the most popular sport over the past 15 years.
The two have won a combined 12 Ballon d'Ors and numerous Champions League and domestic titles while setting the game ablaze at Real Madrid and Barcelona respectively.
But could their storied careers culminate with the two lining up alongside each other in the rapidly growing MLS?

Messi only joined Miami's ambitious setup in 2023 after leaving Paris Saint-Germain.
Convincing his long-time rival Ronaldo to also make the switch to Florida in 2025 would be a major coup for the club and MLS.
The financial clout of Inter's ownership group would likely make such a deal viable if Ronaldo is keen on the challenge of taking MLS by storm before retiring.
After achieving so much in Europe, the romantic idea of football's two biggest icons teaming up stateside could prove an irresistible final chapter in their illustrious careers.
