Gift Orban: Nigeria Super Eagles star ends 10-game drought as Gent run riot in UECL
Nigerian striker, Gift Orban, is back among the goals after he ended a challenging 10-game goal drought as Gent ran riot in the UEFA Europa Conference League, UECL.
Orban was on the score sheet as Gent thrashed their visitors Breidablik 5-0 at the KAA Gent Arena on Thursday evening.
Orban returns for Gent
Orban had enjoyed a brilliant start to life at Gent but had been on a run of 10 matches without finding the back of the net for his Belgian side.
The Super Eagles forward had been eagerly seeking to put an end to his struggles in front of goal and that finally paid off in a thrilling UECL encounter.
Gent, as a team, displayed remarkable prowess on the pitch, dominating their opponents from start to finish, with Hugo Cuypers the star of the show after he netted a first half brace.
Four of the goals were scored in an excellent first half display before Orban came off the bench to cap off the evening with a fifth for Gent.
The goal was his first in 10 matches and would have come as a relief for the 20-year-old striker.
The game against the visitors was a spectacle of attacking football, and Orban’s goal was the icing on the cake for the hosts.
Gent now sit top of Group B on seven points, three ahead of Zorya, who face Maccabi Tel Aviv in the other group match.
