Nigerian connection saves Gent as Orban and Torunarigha deny St. Truiden win
It was a Nigerian show as KAA Gent escaped defeat at home to St. Truiden in the Belgian Jupiler.
Gift Orban and Jordan Torunaigha were the heroes as Gent came from behind to secure a share of the spoils following a four-goal thriller at Ghelamco Arena on Sunday.
Gent vs Truiden
Orban was on target again alongside compatriot Torunaigha on a difficult day for the home side.
Gent were looking to return to winning ways after a 2-1 defeat to Pogon Szczecin in the Europa Conference League.
However, they got off to a poor start when Truiden took a 2-0 lead after just 12 minutes.
Aboubakary Koita fired the visitors in front after just six minutes before Mathias Delorge doubled their advantage six minutes later to give the away side a comfortable lead.
Orban and Torunarigha
Gent pulled one back just after the half hour mark through the reliable Gift Orban, who was at the right place and time to half the deficit heading into the break.
The goal was the second in three matches for Orban, who remains a huge target for Premier League side Tottenham.
German-born Nigerian defender, Torunarigha came off the bench to save Gent’s blushes after he netted a beautiful volley just before the hour mark to give Gent a share of the spoils.
