Former clean sheet specialist and Super Eagles target dumps Nigerian league for Europe

Nigerian goalkeeper Osayi Kingdom has bid farewell to the Nigerian Premier Football League, NPFL, to join Swedish club Assyriska Sodertalje. 

Kingdom, who was once on the radar of the Super Eagles for his impressive performances, has left champions Enugu Rangers to pursue his dreams in Europe.

The talented shot-stopper's decision to leave the Rangers was facilitated by a mutual termination of his contract, allowing him to embark on this new adventure. 

Before joining the Rangers, Kingdom had already made a name for himself at Doma United, where he was instrumental in a nine-match unbeaten streak during the 2023/2024 season. 

During this impressive run, he kept clean sheets in all nine games, showing his prowess as a clean sheet specialist.

Reflecting on his departure, Kingdom expressed gratitude and optimism about his future. 

On social media, he shared a heartfelt message: “Lord I'm grateful for making this possible. Take the wheel, Jesus. And I trust that everything is going to turn out just fine.” 

In a separate farewell note to the Rangers, he wrote: “Dear Enugu Rangers International Family, as I bid farewell to this incredible team, I want to express my deepest gratitude to everyone who made my time here unforgettable.” 

This sentiment shows the respect and appreciation he holds for his former club and its fans.

Kingdom's move to Assyriska Sodertalje, a Swedish second-division club, represents a significant step in his career. 

It not only offers him a chance to compete in European football but also provides an opportunity to gain international exposure and potentially attract further attention from national team selectors.
