Eyes now nose: What happened the last time Mourinho attacked an opposition coach

Fenerbahce's coach, Jose Mourinho, recently pulled Galatasaray's Okan Buruk's nose. He is set for a lengthy ban on the sidelines, but this is not the first time it has happened.

The 62-year-old coach is a passionate manager who wears his heart on his sleeve. Upon signing for the Yellow Canaries, he promised fans of the club he would wear their jersey like his skin.

That passion has not diluted, having assumed a Fenerbahce identity and what it means to rival Galatasaray. This led to an outburst in the aftermath of the Turkish Cup clash against the Cim-Bom on Wednesday, in which Mourinho pulled Buruk's nose.

The Portuguese is one of the more adversarial managers in the sport and is no stranger to verbal altercations. The likes of Pep Guardiola, Arsène Wenger, Antonio Conte, etc.—the list is long.

However, on a couple of occasions, he has crossed the line and become physical. The most recent is the attack on Buruk's nose, and the other incident was an attack on Tito Villanova's eyes.

Like the Istanbul derby, the El Clasico is one of the more fiery clashes around, and the presence of Mourinho in the Los Blancos dugout took the animosity to another level.

The Barcelona vs. Real Madrid clashes during Mourinho's stint as a Real Madrid boss were typically cantankerous and even spilled into physical confrontations between players.

In one such fixture, the 2011 Supercopa de España final, the altercation was between managers, with Mourinho attacking Barça's assistant coach, the now-late Villanova, from behind, putting his finger in the Spaniard's eye.

Mourinho was handed a two-match ban for his role in the incident but was subsequently pardoned by RFEF president Angel Maria Villar, “who traditionally grants an amnesty after sealing re-election,” according to Sky Sports.
