What happened

The Yellow Canaries hosted Galatasaray at the Sukru Saracoglou stadium in the Türkiye Kupasi. The visitors raced into an early lead thanks to Osimhen, and before the half-hour mark, the Nigerian doubled the lead after they were awarded a penalty by VAR, to the chagrin of the home crowd.

Sebastian Szymanski pulled one back for the hosts before halftime. However, Fenerbahce did not build up on the goal in the second half and could not muster a comeback.

Instead, the game broke into a scrappy affair, with eight yellow cards shown in the second half compared to the first’s zero. The squabbling spilled past full time, with multiple incidents of violent conduct, the most prominent of which was Mourinho hitting the opposition's coach in the face.

The Portuguese tactician received a red card for his action and is expected to receive a lengthy ban. His midfielder Mert Hakan Yandas also saw red for violent conduct. While for Galatasaray, Baris Yilmaz and Kerem Demirbay received a red card apiece.
