Speaking in an Instagram video after Nigeria's thrilling 3-2 victory over Tunisia, the Atalanta forward explained the chemistry behind his pinpoint assist for Osimhen's opener and his own spectacular goal that put the Eagles 3-0 up.

"Yeah, I think he's a top, top striker. Everybody in the world knows this," Lookman said with characteristic understatement. "But I kind of tried to find him because, you know, he scores goals, he's good at scoring goals. You know, yeah, we got a good rapport together and we try to find each other on the pitch. So, yeah, long may it continue."

The humility in Lookman's words belies the brilliance of his performance. His deep cross in the 44th minute found Osimhen rising above Tunisian defenders to power home Nigeria's opening goal. But it was his second-half contributions that truly showcased the telepathic connection between the pair.

After providing a teasing corner for Wilfred Ndidi's maiden international goal five minutes into the second half, Lookman turned scorer in the 70th minute with a moment of individual brilliance that left Tunisia's defence in disarray.

The goal came from a flowing team move that saw both Osimhen and Alex Iwobi exploit gaps in the Carthage Eagles' backline before Lookman collected possession, after a selfless pass from the Galatasaray man, glided past his marker, and slotted coolly through the keeper's legs.

"We try to find each other on the pitch," Lookman had said, and the evidence was everywhere—in Osimhen's runs that created space, in Lookman's willingness to deliver dangerous balls into the box, and in the mutual respect that allowed both to flourish without ego.

Despite Tunisia's late fightback through Montassar Talbi and Ali Abdi's penalty, Nigeria held firm to secure top spot in Group B with six points.

With Uganda next on Tuesday, the Osimhen-Lookman axis shows no signs of slowing down. As Lookman put it: ‘Long may it continue.’ That’s terrifying, but not for Nigeria.
