Cristiano Ronaldo Jr. marked a major milestone in his young career by scoring his first goal for Portugal’s U16 team in their 2–1 victory over Wales at the weekend.
The 15-year-old forward, son of global football icon Cristiano Ronaldo, has now tallied three goals at the youth international level, an impressive feat at such an early stage.

Ronaldo Jr., who has been developing his game in Portugal’s youth system, continues to draw comparisons to his father, but interestingly, he’s already ahead of him in one aspect.
Cristiano Ronaldo Sr. didn’t make his first international appearance until after his 16th birthday, debuting for Portugal’s U15 side in February 2001, when he scored against South Africa.
Early Promise and a Famous Legacy
While Ronaldo Sr.’s road to international stardom was slowed by injuries and required strong backing from his youth coach Aurélio Pereira, Ronaldo Jr. appears to be flourishing much earlier.
The younger Ronaldo, already known for his technical ability and physical maturity, is taller and stronger than his father was at the same age.
Speaking during the Saudi Pro League: Kickoff show last season, Ronaldo Sr. even admitted, “When I was his age, he is a little bit bigger and stronger. I was smaller. I think he will be bigger than me.”
In Saturday’s match against Wales, Ronaldo Jr. lined up on the left wing. The younger Ronaldo has already represented several clubs at the youth level, including Juventus Academy, Manchester United Academy, and Al Nassr’s youth setup, following his father’s club journey.
Portugal’s U16 team will next face England on Tuesday, where Ronaldo Jr. will have another opportunity to shine and add to his growing reputation.
