Chelsea plan to hijack highly-rated Super Eagles eligible star from Arsenal
Chelsea are reportedly plotting a move for Ethan Nwaneri should Arsenal fail to reach an agreement on a contract renewal.
The 18-year-old is one of the brightest talents that came through Arsenal's Hale End Academy. He made his debut in September 2022, at the age of 15, which made him the youngest player to play in the Premier League at the time.
However, it was last season he gained prominence, following the injuries to Bukayo Saka and Martin Ødegaard.
Chelsea's interest
Nwaneri’s current deal expires in 2026, and Arsenal have begun discussions with his representatives for contract renewal.
Nwaneri is seeking improved terms and, more importantly, increased game time, according to Fabrizio Romano. Per the report, Chelsea are on the prowl should the Gunners fail to seal the deal.
Meanwhile, Arsenal have agreed on personal terms with Chelsea’s 23-year-old winger Noni Madueke, who has approved a potential move to the Emirates, according to reports. The deal is reportedly unrelated to Chelsea's interest in Madueke.
No club-to-club talks have occurred, but Arsenal’s good relationship with Chelsea, shown by the recent £5 million transfer of goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, could facilitate negotiations
