Chelsea's preparations for crucial upcoming fixtures against Barcelona and Arsenal have been clouded by a potential injury to winger Jamie Gittens, who was forced off during England U21s' victory over the Republic of Ireland on Friday.
Gittens, a summer signing from Borussia Dortmund, earned a start for the Young Lions as they secured a 2-0 win in a rain-soaked European Championship qualifier at St Andrew's. However, his night was cut short just after the 60-minute mark.

The injury occurred when the 21-year-old attempted to dribble past Ireland's James McManus inside the penalty area. Visibly in discomfort, Gittens was immediately substituted for Fulham's Joshua King and headed straight down the tunnel for treatment.
While not a consistent starter for Chelsea, Gittens has been a useful squad player for manager Enzo Maresca, contributing one goal and three assists in 14 appearances across all competitions this season.
Any absence would further strain an attack that has been short on options, although the club is hopeful of welcoming Cole Palmer back from a groin injury soon.
Following the international break, Chelsea face a demanding schedule, starting with a Premier League clash against Burnley before hosting Barcelona and Arsenal in quick succession.
