Fletcher assumed the role only days ago, following the abrupt termination of Ruben Amorim, fuelled by an edgy interview in which he appeared to be in dispute with his bosses.

What Fletcher said

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Fletcher expressed his disappointment at the result, highlighting the positives from the team in what was an improved performance from Amorim's last game in charge.

"Disappointed we didn't win the game. We've done more than enough to win the game in terms of chances, shots, two cleared off the line,” he said, per the BBC.  “I'm not sure why the goal's disallowed for the foul with [Lisandro] Martinez, so 2-2 if you look at it with the context of everything, it's disappointing.”

Despite the dissatisfying result, Fletcher shared his pride in coaching Manchester United. He also confirmed that he will be in the dugout for their next game.

"It's an amazing experience. I'm disappointed we didn't win the game; I can't hide that, but in terms of the experience of leading the team out, preparing the team, the fans, the support, everything, it was a pleasure; it was an honour.”

"I've spoken to the board and I'll be in charge for the Brighton game and we'll take it from there. It's one game at a time.”
