Blow for Mourinho as Galatasaray set to repeat Osimhen trick with Arsenal star

Jose Mourinho is reportedly set to miss out on his preferred target in the January window.

The Fenerbahce boss had earmarked Arsenal's Oleksandr Zinchenko as the perfect January signing as part of a massive squad overhaul, but will now watch rivals Galatasaray swoop for the Ukraine international.

Zinchenko's time at Arsenal appears to be drawing to a close, with the full-back struggling to regain his fitness and secure regular game time under Mikel Arteta.

He arrived from Manchester City as a solution to Arsenal's problem left-back spot but after three seasons, is now considered a mere squad option.

Recent speculation has linked Zinchenko with a move to Fenerbahce, to play under Mourinho.

However, according to Turkish outlet A Spor, Fenerbahce's arch-rivals Galatasaray are close to hijacking the deal.

Galatasaray have a history of pulling off major coups, after beating Fenerbahce to secure the signing of Victor Osimhen last summer to cement their status as the best team in Turkey.

This latest development will come as a significant blow to Mourinho's side, who already trail Galatasaray by 11 points in the Super Lig standings.
