Eintracht were largely anonymous until Daichi Kamada fed Randal Kolo Muani in the box and the forward beat Dayot Upamecano in a one-on-one to fire home a 69th-minute equaliser for his seventh league goal this season.
Bayern have been very profligate in recent games and despite creating several chances, have only scored three goals in their last three matches.
The Bavarians, chasing a record-extending 11th straight league title, had several excellent chances to double their advantage but failed to do so.
Bayern also drew their games against RB Leipzig and Cologne 1-1 following the restart of the season after the winter break. This result leaves them with a one-point lead over second-placed Union Berlin, who have 36 points after beating Hertha 2-0 in the Berlin derby.
What next for Bayern?
The German champions face Mainz, Wolfsburg, and Bochum before a crucial first-leg against Paris Saint-Germain on Feb. 14 in the Champions League Round of 16. They will be hoping to find their usual form before that fixture comes around.
