Barcelona set date for sealing top target deal

Barcelona have identified Spanish winger Nico Williams as their top transfer target of the summer, and a recent report has revealed they plan to accelerate talks for the Athletic Club winger next week.

Williams was one of the top players in his position in LALIGA last season, with 11 assists to name, more than any other player other than his Spanish national teammate Alejandro Baena (14).

He carried the form into the European Championships and has been one of the best players in the competition, earning himself plaudits and suitors. His performance forced Barcelona to up the priority of the move, with other clubs waiting on the prowl. 

Despite the noise surrounding his future as a result of his sustained brilliance at the European Championships, Williams has remained level-headed and has stated that he will not entertain transfer talks until after the competition. 

Although Barcelona have made initial contact with his agent, a report from Matteo Moretto claims that the Blaugrana will wait until next week to reach a “definitive agreement on personal terms,” when the Euros would have ended. 

Meanwhile, Athletic Club released a statement berating the incessant questioning of Nico Williams about his future by reporters.
