Lookman, who has been in sensational form since joining the Rojiblancos from Atalanta during the winter transfer window, played a key role for Nigeria.

He completed the entire 2-2 draw against Jordan in Antalya, Turkey, and also played 90 minutes in the 2-1 victory over Iran before being substituted.

The Spanish club is said to be concerned after Lookman played the full 180 minutes across two friendly matches for the Super Eagles against Jordan and Iran.

Atletico not happy with NFF

According to a report from the Spanish publication AS, Atletico Madrid considers the decision to play Lookman for the entirety of both non-competitive fixtures to be excessive.

The club is reportedly focused on carefully managing the players' workload as they enter a critical stage of the season.

With Atletico competing for honours in La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the UEFA Champions League, there are fears that heavy minutes on international duty could lead to fatigue and increase the risk of injury.

Since his move to Spain, the Nigerian international has made a significant impact, scoring five goals and providing four assists in 14 appearances for his new club.

The winger will be looking to play a big role in the final run of the season for Atletico as he returns to his club for this weekend's clash.
