Arsenal's title to lose: Guardiola's Manchester City simply not good enough to catch Gunners

Manchester City’s hope of winning the Premier League took a massive hit on Sunday as they threw away a two-goal lead to draw 2–2 with Tottenham.

The result, coming 24 hours after Arsenal’s 4–0 dismantling of Leeds, leaves the North London leaders with a commanding six-point cushion at the summit.

At half-time, City seemed in total control. Goals from Rayan Cherki and Antoine Semenyo had them cruising. However, the team that came out for the second half was unrecognisable, lethargic, and played with a strange lack of energy.

In reality, Arsenal should be even further ahead by now. They are only to blame for the gap being six points; it should be much wider.

City have won just one of their last six league games, a run that includes that horrific performance in the Manchester Derby, and the reality is they simply aren't capable of producing the long winning streaks we have become used to.

Guardiola watched from the sidelines as his midfield was exposed by Tottenham's energy and hard running, with Rodri, in particular, struggling against the guile of the excellent Xavi Simons.

Simons was the spark for the comeback, setting up Dominic Solanke for a goal in the 53rd minute. Solanke then took advantage of more lazy defending in the 70th minute to score the equalizer. City had no answers, and Pep Guardiola’s raft of substitutions made no real difference.

Up next for Manchester City in the league is a trip to Anfield. On current form, it's hard to see them claiming maximum points against a resurgent Liverpool. More dropped points will likely see Arsenal extend their advantage at the top.

One of Guardiola's biggest problems is the fact that his big players are underperforming.

While Cherki remains a bright spark, the goals have dried up for Erling Haaland, who has now scored just two goals in his last 11 games.

There is no guarantee that Arsenal will continue to win, and as we saw in the game against Manchester United, they can drop points too. However, City have shown nothing to suggest they have what it takes to capitalise.

The Gunners are favourites with 14 games left of the season, and this is their title to lose.
