Arsenal forward Eberechi Eze has opened up on his remarkable scoring record against North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
The Nigerian-born attacker once again proved decisive, netting twice for the Gunners in a dominant derby display.
Five goals in two derbies for Eze
Arsenal secured a resounding 4-1 victory at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, responding emphatically after their midweek slip.
Eze was at the heart of the action, taking his tally to five goals in his first two matches against Spurs since opting to join the Gunners ahead of them last summer.
Bukayo Saka’s persistence created the opener, as he skipped past Pape Sarr to find Eze for a composed finish. Spurs briefly responded through Randal Kolo Muani, but Viktor Gyökeres restored Arsenal’s lead before Eze struck again to put the result beyond doubt.
Remarkably, more than 80% of Eze’s Premier League goals for Arsenal have come against Tottenham, a statistic that shows his love for the derby.
Eze’s secret to scoring against Tottenham
Asked about his love affair with the fixture, Eze offered a humble explanation.
“Today it worked out, thanks God. Why do I always score against Spurs? I try to score against everyone but it always seems to work against them!”
Under Mikel Arteta, Arsenal restored their five-point lead at the top with a clinical performance, leaving Spurs and new boss Igor Tudor reeling.
For Eze, though, it was just another day delivering when it mattered most in the North London derby against Arsenal’s fierce rivals.
