Andre Onana: Salary Increase that Enticed Manchester United Goalkeeper to Turkish Club
Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana has reportedly secured a pay rise at Turkish club Trabzonspor.
Onana agreed to join Trabzonspor on a season-long loan deal after falling down the pecking order at Old Trafford and seeing the Red Devils sign a new goalkeeper in Belgian Senne Lammens.
The Cameroonian had lost his place after a number of high-profile errors during his time at United, especially last season, when most of his mistakes proved costly.

With United signing Lammens on deadline day, Onana’s options were only limited to Saudi Arabia and Turkey, whose transfer windows are still open, and he opted to join the latter with Trabzonspor signing him on loan but with no transfer fee involved, while the club also do not have an option to buy him permanently.

As revealed earlier, Onana gave his green light to the move. Formalisation from all sides expected within 24 hours.

However, according to British journalist Ben Jacobs, Onana was enticed by a bumper pay at Trabzonspor besides the allure of playing regularly as he is set to see his salary increase due to a signing-on fee and bonuses.
How Much Does Onana Earn at Man United?
"Onana will earn more than at Utd due to the sign-on and bonuses offered by Trabzonspor,” Jacobs wrote on X.
Onana is believed to be on a base pay of £120,000-per-week at United but it had reduced by 25 per cent due to a clause at the club which comes into effect if they miss out on European football qualification.
He, however, seems to have escaped that and will now get to earn more in Turkey as he looks to revive his career after seeing his stock fall since his move from Inter Milan to United two years ago.
The Cameroon international was keen to play regularly to stay in contention for a place in his country’s squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, which will take place in December and January in Morocco, as well as the 2026 World Cup with the Indomitable Lions in with a chance of sealing a direct ticket or via the playoffs.
